Hey all,
The digital character commission is clearly the popular choice among give-a-ways I listed so here is the other end of the bargain, I'm not asking for money but I am asking for time and specificity.
Time- You will need to put together a certain amount of information
Specificity- You need to be able to tell me what you feel is the most you can describe about your character
Examples of Useful Information
(Sketches or other visual aids are helpful but written descriptions are fine, too)
1. Backstory- How did your character come to be? How did they arrive at where they are now?
2. Outfit details- If applicable, cultural influences in the outfit. What materials were used, why these materials? What are the purpose of accessories/weapons?
3. Physique and Looks- Describe their body type. Are they missing a limb? Why? You can include other information like hair, eye, skin color. You can be as specific as you want.
4. Borrowed Concepts- Don't be shy to tell me if you borrowed design concepts from other characters, i.e. from video games, movies, books, etc. This will help me understand your design thinking if you don't have sketches.
5. Well, you tell me. This is not the usual contest criteria, I want to see how specific and detailed you can get. But at the same time, try to stay cohesive. If you try to write this all in one go, you'll likely trail off in one area and neglect another. I will be able to tell if it's rushed. So put some thought into it. If you already have character descriptions at the ready, look it over and revise/organize if necessary.
You can note me a link to it or email it to smallfish at bignet dot com. Attach all necessary images/files in one e-mail if you can.

2023!
My last journal was 8 months ago! I haven't been keeping up with journaling on here. Thanks for sticking around if you're reading this. I think I am more active on LinkedIn now- I never thought that day would come, dun dun dun... Some cool stuff will be happening soon so I might be posting more. Hope you have all been well- seems like everyone is getting a cold nowadays.
Spring 2022
Wow! My last update was back in January! Prepare for a bit of a photodump + random happenings not exactly in chronological order... Working at home and at the office has been great. I like going into the office to break things up during the week. Interact with other human beings, grab a snack, etc. GDC week was fun! I met a coworker for the first time at an afterparty! Yummy drinks sponsored by T-Mobile and Tapjoy!
January
First, new work space setup! This was so crucial to my productivity and overall mood. Glad was finally able to address this. My husband assembled the desk and I'm glad he did because this was not user friendly. It came in so many pieces! I love it, though. I cooked pancit following my mom's recipe. She said it was very good! Life has gotten so expensive... Everything is so expensive... Cooking at home has become non-negotiable. I'm still setting up a new computer so I don't have all my files on here. But I made a neat video with my coworker that you can find on my Twitter account http://www.twitter.com/tahopaints
Winter 2021 Updates
Wow, I've been so busy that I skipped Fall updates. Wishing you are all doing well. Despite everything going on in the world, I hope you're able to find moments of creativity and inspiration. Times of focus and quiet, to make and just... let your ideas run wild! I haven't had the luxury to work much on my own stuff lately. But I do have a ton of ideas, I jot them down in my notebook and return to them weeks, months, sometimes years later. I've never wasted an idea! If I'm not the one to bring it to life, I share it with a good friend. Sadly, the past few weeks and months have been a drain on my energy. In the past, when I'd find myself surrounded by negativity, I'd decide it was time to book a flight and take my family across the globe! Night lights and flavors in Beijing, finding a hidden playground in the heart of Tokyo and seeing my kids enjoy every moment of it. Even locally, I could find wonders in the same trail I hike. A flower blooming, a stone turned just a tad bit
